“Save Free Basics ” Dont Send This Message To TRAI If You Support Net Neutrality

Do you guys remember the campaign we all supported “SaveTheInternet” ? Now to Oppose it Facebook is calling on Indian users to send an email to the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), asking the government agency to support its Free Basics program which includes a pre-filled form so they don’t even have to write an email, with opponents saying its message undermines net neutrality in India.

So without knowing much people are just clicking and sending after seeing the notification of their friends they received .

As per update TRAI has issued another consultation paper asking once again, if we want Net Neutrality.

We sent millions of emails to TRAI opposing this few months ago , but now with just 1 click in facebook we are supporting that in favor of them.

What is Free Basics ?

Obviously name is misleading people.

Free Basics gives people access to vital services, such as communication, healthcare, education, job listings and farming information—all without data charges. It helps those who can’t afford to pay for data, or who need a little help with getting started online. And it’s open to all people, developers and mobile networks.

Why Oppose Free Basics and Support Net Neutrality ?

Net Neutrality is extremely important for small business owners, startups ,bloggers and entrepreneurs, who can simply launch their businesses online, advertise the products and sell them openly, without any discrimination. It is essential for innovation and creating job opportunities. Big companies like Google, Twitter and several others are born out of net neutrality. With increasing Internet penetration in India and given that we are becoming a breeding ground for startups and entrepreneurs, the lack of net neutrality should worry us greatly. Besides, it is very important for freedom of speech, so that one can voice their opinion without the fear of being blocked or banned.

So Without knowing the facts just dont click on “Send” button after seeing your friends doing it.
