In recent past we have already heard about so many selfie deaths, so a new step has been taken by the Government! Now, officials have been directed to book people under several section if they caught taking selfie near the railway tracks.
Yes, you heard right if you are found taking selfies near railway tracks or high speed train, then it would be treated as an attempt of suicide act and he or she would be jailed for the same, said Raj Kumar Gautam, the deputy superintendent of Police for GRP Agra division.
Recently, a man and 3 boys lost their lives while taking selfies near Saharanpur and Mirzapur’s railway tracks respectively. Offenders would now be booked under IPC Section 145 i.e. causing nuisance or drunkenness or IPC Section 307 of Railway Acts if caught.
Reports say that out of 27 deaths that happen due to selfie clicking, half of them are seen in India. Even in February, an incident was brought to light when Dena Sukumar, a 17 year old along with her 5 friends was attempting to take a selfie near the track in Chennai. The train appeared faster than they anticipated and while others could manage jumping down the tracks, Dena was hit by the train and died on the spot. To avoid such incidents government has taken this step. Hope it makes some difference.
