A 29-year-old law student, whose body was found on Thursday evening in a badly injured and mutilated state, Police is awaiting for the reports to confirm rape before murder.
The student, a dalit, was found murdered inside her home near an isolated stretch at Vattolippidi canal bund near Perumbavoor near Perumbavoor. There were at least 30 injuries on her body , including on her private parts. Police said major injuries were on the head, back of the neck, chest and stomach. As per the reports the force of the assault on her stomach was such that her small intestine had sloshed out.
“It is a case of a very violent murder. Though the post-mortem report suggests chances of sexual assault or rape, we are waiting for a few laboratory results to confirm the same,” Ernakulam rural SP Yathish Chandra GH said.
The incident came to light when the woman’s mother, a manual labourer, returned home after 8.30 pm. Police believe the murder took place between 1 and 8.30 pm. The victim was found semi-naked, with just a cloth covering the top portion of her body lying on the floor . The victim’s father has been living separately for the last 25 years. “At present, we do not have a solid lead to go by but there are bits and pieces of information that we are trying to piece together,” IG, Kochi Range, Mahipal Yadav, said on Monday after visiting the crime scene.
