The National Museum of Natural History in Delhi has been completely destroyed after a massive fire engulfed the building on Tuesday morning around 1.45 am, as per ANI reports.

The fire is reportedly now under control.

The fire reportedly started at the top floor of the museum and spread throughout the building to all six floors, reports NDTV. 25 Fire tenders rushed to the spot. The adjoining FICCI auditorium has also been reportedly damaged.

The fire initially was out of control as the ‘building’s fire safety mechanisms were not working’. However, three hours later, it was finally brought under control and completely doused around 7 am, according to NDTV reports.

Six firemen have been critically injured. They are admitted at the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, where their condition is currently stable, reports Times Of India.

The cause of the fire is still unknown.
