In a shocking incident, a 35-year-old man was arrested for allegedly raping his mother at their house in Nial village of Patran town of the district, Punjab.
Kuldeep Singh also known as Kala was out on 45-day parole from the Patiala jail and on Friday night he reached his home in an drunken state and committed the crime.
The accused was sentenced to lifetime imprisonment in 2007 after he was convicted in a kidnapping and extortion case.
The 55-year-old mother (the victim) stated in the complaint that Kuldeep had first thrown his younger brother out of the house after a scuffle and then locked her in a room and raped her; while being in an inebriated condition.
The victim got out of the house only after the accused slept and then told the fellow villagers about the incident. She was taken to the local hospital thereafter for medical treatment, according to reports in Hindustan Times.
The police said that they have registered the case on Saturday under section 376 (rape) and 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and further investigation was on.
“The accused was arrested on Sunday and we are going to produce him before the local court on Monday,” said Patran station house officer (SHO) Narayan Singh.
