The famous poet-lyricist and Rajya Sabha MP Javed Akhtar bid goodbye in a style; his farewell speech at parliament will be remembered for decades as he has made it very clear that patriotism can’t be forced by constitution and more importantly, it comes from within.

Just few days back, Asadduddin Owaisi, the Lok Sabha MP and President of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen has made a statement that he won’t say “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” not even at the cost of slitting his throat with a knife. Javed has responded to his statement in an impressive way by telling him that constitution also doesn’t tell to wear Sherwani but still it is worn by people. Javed calls Owaisi, “mohalla leader from Hyderabad” and condemns him for refusing to say “Bharat Mata Ki Jai”.

Javed Akhtar recites “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” few times in his speech while saying that secularism is not just about safeguarding the rights of one religion. In fact, “We need to protect secularism because democracy doesn’t stand without secularism. I believe this is our greatest achievement.”

Well, in simple words, this is a speech which just can’t be missed by any of you:
