The boy is a primary school dropout while the girl is a student of class XI. They fell in love and decided to run secretly from the village in order to get married. But The families of the couple traced them and brought them back to the village. After this a shocking and humiliating ceremony was organised.
As the ceremony of humiliation began, the girl was said to sit on the ground and the boy was forced to ride her in front of villagers. The girl kept weeping continuously but no one could utter a word as it was the will of panchayat.
Then the couple was forced to wear garlands made of cow-dung cakes. Also a fine of Rs 5,000 and Rs 10,000 was slapped on boy’s and girl’s family respectively.
Panchayat after this also issued a warning that, if the boy and girl are seen together again, the families will have to pay a sum of Rs 5 lac each as fine.
