The ranking by U.S. News & World Report, the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School and global brand consultants BAV Consulting was published on the sidelines of World Economic Forum Annual Meeting on Thursday. And according to the inaugural list of the world’s best countries, Germany is the best country in the world, followed by Canada and United Kingdom.

The countries were ranked on the basis of sustainability, adventure, cultural influence, entrepreneurship and economic influence.

India is ranked 22nd in this list, while its neighbor China is on the 17th position.

“India has a fast-growing, diverse economy with a large, skilled workforce. But because of its population, it’s also one of the poorest countries in the world based on income and gross national product per capita.

“Although agriculture employs the most workers, services are the major source of economic growth. Due to its educated, English-speaking workforce, India has become an important center of information technology services, business outsourcing services and software workers,” it noted.
