In the wake of reports of three madrasa students thrashed for not chanting “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” and the ongoing heated debate on nationalism, a video showing a forced conversion bid has gone viral.
In the video a youth, claimed to be a Muslim, tied to a pole, being beaten up and forced to chant “Jai Sri Ram” for allegedly smuggling cows. The youth is seen begging forgiveness and urging the crowd not to beat him and kept on screaming not to hit on his stomach (“Mere pet me mat maro”) but mercy has shown by the hindu extremists.
The victim was forced to accept Hinduism, as showed in the video.
The veracity of the cow vigilantism video posted on Facebook by a local channel could not be ascertained.
The youth is seen being verbally abused and hit by the crowd who were called as hindu extremists by many over his religious identity and thrashed with a baton for not passing on the name of the supplier of cows who allegedly sells cattle to the slaughter.
In a similar incident about a month ago, two youths from Latehar were killed for allegedly smuggling cows for beef. The two deceased had left their homes with animals for Tutilawa village in the neighbouring Chatra district for the annual animal fair when the incident happened, the family had claimed.
