New Delhi: In a shocking incident in Delhi’s elite Golf Links area, a traffic policeman attacked a woman with a brick. The incident took place when the woman was on her way to drop her daughters to the school on Monday morning.

Traffic constable Satish Chandra stopped the woman to allegedly check her driver’s license and other papers following which there was a brief verbal argument which took a terrifying turn.

The FIR was registered and the traffic constable has been arrested.


Narrating the incident, the woman said, “I was going to drop my daughter to her school. The traffic constable asked me for my RC and licence and asked for Rs 200 as fine for crossing red light. He said that he will not give me the slip. So we argued for a while. I said I want a slip which he was not willing to give. He kicked my scooty and threw bricks. He hit me with a brick. I screamed and some people gathered.”

The accused policeman has been suspended with immediate effect.

Senior Delhi Police officials say that they will take strict action against him, adding that they regret the shameful act.

Condemning the incident, former Commissioner of Delhi Police Ved Marwah said, “Seeing a constable do this to a woman is shocking. Action should be taken against the constable.”

Delhi Home Minister Satyendra Jain said the suspended constable is arrested. He said, “We shall look into the case. Whatever needs to be done will be carried out.”
