There is an alarming rise in the name of communal violence in the country. When everybody was fighting for reservation and called being backward. This act in Jagraon, Ludhiana just brighten our days, the fight between Muslim and Sikh is an old story heard by all and the extremists are leaving no stone unturned to make this relation more bitter.
But villager of this village spread the message of brotherhood and love, proving all of us wrong. Mostly Sikh people resides in this small village and there is a decade old mosque which was getting ruined. Also, only one Muslim family resided in the Malla Village of Jagraon. So, looking at a collapse of mosque was like a challenge to all Sikh here which seemed to be normal for anyone else.
All The Sikh families and including only Muslim family in the village contributed towards the cause and were determined to renovate the mosque with all their heart. After the construction was completed, the Sikh people arranged a Langar for the whole village, where around 5,000 people resides. Muslim family has words of appreciation and so much gratitude for the Sikh community in their village and they see mosque a ray of hope.
“Our Sikh brothers have always stood by us. And today, they helped rebuild our place of worship. We cannot thank them enough,” said Iqbal Hussain.
The mosque was inaugurated by the Shahi Imam, Punjab, Muhammad Usmaan Ludhianvi on Monday who stated, “The Malla village mosque was closed in 1947 after its run-down building collapsed. About six months ago, we approached the villagers, seeking their help to renovate it. Even as the village has just one Muslim family, the response had been overwhelming.”
Jogi Verma from the village who stays near the mosque said, “We are proud of the fact that our village represents unity in diversity.”
Truly, this one-act has removed the venomous factors residing between the religions. People in our country are more concerned about others, they know fighting and putting blame on each other. Our country needs strong leadership and a change in penurious mentality of these people.
