A sad incident highlighting cyber crime occurred in Tamil Nadu with a 21-year-old girl hanging herself. Some of her doctored obscene pictures were uploaded on Facebook last week. Giving up on life, she committed suicide six days after the uploads.
Apparently a fake profile in her name was created on Facebook on which the pictures were posted.
She had approached her parents only to be disappointed. They believed that she had sent her nude pictures to the one who uploaded them as her suicide note suggests, reportsNDTV. It says, “What’s the use of living when my father and mother do not trust me?”
On the contrary, the parents have accused the police of inaction. They claim to have reported the incident to the Police on 23rd June 2016 but they did not take action in time. Now the fake profile has been taken down and Facebook has been approached for the details of the user who undertook this heinous act.
Whether it was the parents doubt on their child or the Police’s inaction, a young life has been sacrificed and nothing will bring it back now. We can only hope the offender is booked as soon as possible.
