You might have read about the announcement made by the Uttar Pradesh government to end caste-based reservations in private medical and dental colleges of up. An order has been passed to do end the quota system for candidates belonging to SC, ST and OBC categories.
As per the news , The Yogi Adityanath government made an announcement stating that caste-based reservations in private medical and dental colleges of Uttar Pradesh will end soon. The decision to end the caste-based reservations was taken by the outgoing Akhilesh Yadav-led Uttar Pradesh government but is currently being implemented by the Yogi Adityanath-led BJP government.
But the authorities at the state medical education department opposed the trending information that there was no caste-based reservations in private medical and dental colleges of Uttar Pradesh.
Director General medical education Dr VN Tripathi told Times of India that, “It is wrong to say that rules of reservation have been scrapped from the private medical and dental colleges. Reservation was never a part of the admission process in private sector medical and dental colleges as per the prevalent policy made in 2006. There has been no change in any policy whatsoever”.
He added, efforts were put to regulate the functioning in private medical and dental colleges as per the orders from the Supreme Court of India.
