Reliance Jio announced that over 72 million of its customers have subscribed for the Jio Prime membership in one month. Company has extended the deadline of buying the Prime Membership plan date to April 15.
In a press release, Jio said,”Considering the unprecedented demand for enrolling to JIO PRIME and doing the first recharge, Jio has extended the deadline for purchasing Jio’s Rs 303 (and other) plans till 15th April.”
For the Prime members, Jio has announced its ‘Jio Summer Surprise’ in which recharge for Rs 303 or more before April 15 and get additional free services for the first 3 months on a complimentary basis. The paid tarrif plans will be applicable from July, after the expiry of complimentary service.
The aim behind the extension is to provide the users necessary time and avoid the disruption of service from free to paid. However, the free service will come to an end after April 15. The company said, the users who do not recharge by the extended date, will experience degradation or discontinuation of services.
In a press statement, Mukesh Ambani said,“I want to personally thank you for choosing Jio, and for being a founding member of the Jio movement. A movement to transform India. A movement to empower and enrich each one of you with the revolutionary power and possibilities of Digital Life.”
He added that Jio is successful in creating the world’s largest greenfield 4G LTE wireless broadband network, with over 1,00,000 mobile towers. He even said that the company will add more 1,00,000 towers to their network in the next coming months, and will invest over Rs 2,00,000 crores, which is the largest in the world.
He confessed that Jio does have small clogs in its network, but assured that with the increase in investment, the services will improve in the upcoming months.
