Recently Kannada Development Authority (KDA) chairman SG Siddaramaiah had suggested 100 percent reservation for Kannadigas in the private sector in the state. If this is implemented, several large companies will lose a major section of their workforces that are employed in the IT hub of Bengaluru.
However, the proposal may just get a nod from the state, although after being watered down a bit, in case Congress leader and Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah decides it’s time to please the Kannada-speaking electorate — a majority in the state — before the 2018 Assembly elections.
